More often than not, the expectation from designers is some output of pixels. It's an evidence of labor that is clearly visible to the eye and therefore forms the basis for how we are evaluated in our role. Yet a designer's most important work has always existed outside the purview of an interface: a product of our time and energy that can't be seen. In this talk, Lily Konings talks about a career built on seemingly nothing—a portfolio full of words rather than images—and how that ultimately mattered more and will continue to influence how design yields impact.
